Five Star Review
Saiqa Reborn: The Children of the Stars by A.L. Whyte is the intense and ambitious continuation of an award-winning science fiction saga. As Earth teeters on the brink of invasion, Saiqa battles for her life aboard the Sanctuary space station, while Erik and other defenders of the planet work to uncover the true nature and location of their enemies. Hovering at the edge of the solar system are the Nh'Ghareen, a relentless alien force poised to strike. With interwoven narratives of terrestrial strategy and interstellar survival, this second installment deepens the lore, stakes, and emotional resonance of the series. Saiqa Reborn is both a thrilling chapter in its own right and a powerful bridge in an epic tale of humanity's resilience.

Author A.L. Whyte expands this story universe with skill and sophistication, maintaining tension across galaxies and making Saiqa's battle for survival harder than ever. There's a keen sense of focus on character, psychology, and motivation that gets you invested in what our heroes are going through. This makes the emotional stakes more compelling than ever, as we root for Saiqa and Erik to survive the ordeals the plot throws at them. These ordeals are plentiful, but also cleverly measured and spaced out to feel realistic and not lose their impact. I also really liked the way the clues in the plot are arranged so that you see the slow uncovering of the true stakes and scale of the interstellar threat in real time with the characters. That makes the impact all the more terrifying as it creeps up on you for a clever, character-driven drama that respects both brain and heart. Overall, I recommend Saiqa Reborn: The Children of the Stars as a fantastic read in itself, but also part of a brilliant, award-winning series that continues to earn its accolades with strong world-building and rich storytelling.

California author/performer AL Whyte continues his award-winning series The Children of the Stars with Book 2 – SAIQA REBORN. As in the initial volume, the author’s goal is to make the characters ‘lives, living in a futuristic world, as believable as you and I stepping into our present day cars.’ The tension and excitement rendered in this book is evident as the story opens: ‘Sub Commander Anna Steges and Captain Mark Thompson were about ten kilometers away from the Ark. Based on what SAIQA could detect, some of the cloaked enemy fighters had shifted away from interfering with their passage. They were in the captain’s fighter…’

A distillation of the plot follows: In the midst of growing assaults by the enemy on Earth, a now aware Saiqa begins to wonder about her own existence and the fact that she was not asked to oversee the giant spacestation, Sanctuary. As the enemy gets bolder, the protagonists begin to understand and attack who and where the enemy is. Mai Quan, with the help of Nh’ghalu, steps up the attacks in space. Sanctuary is partially destroyed, leading to the destruction of Saiqa. Telas finally directly helps the humans against Nh’ghalu, showing them how they can increase their shields and defense. His living ship, Galaxy, may have a way to save Saiqa. With Telas’ help, the tide of the space battle begins to shift in favor of the protagonists. Meanwhile, the militaristic Nh’Ghareen are preparing to attack.

Superb character development and immersive action makes this yet another successful sci-fi thriller. A new ‘stay up until dawn’ reading novel!
